Agadir Hosts Main Planning Meeting for African Lion 2025 Exercise
The African Lion exercise is a joint and combined military training event that involves forces from multiple countries across Africa, Europe, and beyond. As part of the planning meeting, local and international military planners are working together to finalize a variety of activities that will take place during the exercise. These include operational training exercises, planning exercise for General-Staff officers, and combined and joint maneuvers. Additionally, participants will engage in civil-military cooperation activities and specific drills designed to counter threats posed by weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear, radiological, biological, and chemical (NRBC) attacks.
The African Lion 2025 exercise, a multinational and multi-domain event, will take place from May 12 to 23, 2025, in various locations across Morocco, including Agadir, Tan-Tan, Kénitra, Benguerir, and Tiznit. The primary objective of this significant exercise is to strengthen intervention capabilities in a multinational environment, improve interoperability among the participating forces, and promote exchanges between the armed forces of different countries. Ultimately, the exercise aims to enhance peace, security, and stability in the region.
