Embassy of Morocco Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Enthronement of HM King Mohammed VI
In his address, Ambassador Youssef Amrani emphasized the profound and enduring bond between the Moroccan people and the Alaouite Throne, highlighting the significance of this national moment. In this context, he highlighted the achievements made by Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI's reign over the past 25 years.
Ambassador Amrani noted "Since assuming the throne, His Majesty the King has tirelessly worked to implement, accelerate, and solidify a series of political, economic, and social reforms, propelling Morocco steadily towards modernity, prosperity, and influence". He emphasized that these advancements “represent transformations enabling Morocco to pursue continuous progress, uniting the nation around common goals, shared aspirations, and inclusive development models.”
Moreover, the diplomat praised the Moroccan-American partnership, stating, “The historical and longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America are both a foundational asset and an evolving process.” He added, “This partnership, rooted in history, continually promotes new areas of collaboration that underscore the strategic priorities guiding all our interactions.”
Highlighting the enduring nature of the relationship, he stated, “The friendship between Rabat and Washington reflects an exceptional continuum of trust and cooperation between two nations closely aligned in their commitments to peace and prosperity.” He emphasized in this context that “the American recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over its Saharan provinces embodies this mutual understanding and convergence, which defines our relationship across all levels.”
“The joint military exercise “African Lion” and the Morocco-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, both celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, serving as eloquent examples of our shared commitment to an even stronger partnership.”
During the ceremony, Marissa Lago, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, conveyed a message from Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the United States and Morocco. The message praised Morocco as one of America's oldest and closest allies, commending the remarkable progress achieved in advancing this partnership over the past 25 years.
The U.S. official also noted that this dynamic has not only strengthened US-Morocco bilateral partnership but has also elevated it to unprecedented levels of cooperation, expressing her country's recognition and appreciation for HM King Mohammed VI's leadership on various critical issues and priorities. In this context, the message noted “I am grateful for King Mohammed VI’s leadership in the region and steadfast support, as we seek to resolve some of the most pressing issues of our time. I wish the people of Morocco and His Majesty a wonderful celebration and much prosperity in the years to come.”
