Embassy of Morocco Hosts Signing of MoU Between International University of Rabat and Mississippi State University
Ambassador Amrani, in his opening address, underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Morocco and the United States across all sectors, including education. Highlighting the pivotal role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in leading the development of education in Morocco, he cited the creation of the International University of Rabat as a testament to this vision of a more diverse sector, including through the launch of private universities. He also emphasized the broader African and American context of the partnership as he stressed the importance of fostering synergies that promote complementarity and collaboration in higher education, echoing a shared commitment to nurturing human resources that can shape a brighter future for our countries.
UIR President Noureddine Mouaddib expressed his appreciation for the enduring support of Mississippi State University, reflecting on the institution's journey since its establishment in 2010. He emphasized the need to expand partnerships beyond traditional academic domains to address evolving challenges and opportunities, including Morocco's strategic development plans and its upcoming co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Echoing sentiments of friendship and collaboration, MSU President Mark E. Keenum recalled his personal ties to Morocco and the enduring relationship between MSU University and UIR. He advocated for the expansion of collaborative efforts beyond traditional academic disciplines into areas such as agriculture, healthcare, and anthropology, reflecting a commitment to holistic partnership.
The event concluded with the signing of the MoU and the exchange of symbolic gifts. Ambassador Amrani presented President Keenum with an archive of a letter sent by George Washington to Sultan Mohammed III, a historical artifact symbolizing the enduring friendship between Morocco and the United States.
