Empowering Africa's Future: Morocco's Growing Role in Shaping Youth through Education and Entrepreneurship

He emphasized that every year, the AMCI supports the training of thousands of international students, primarily from Africa, equipping them with essential knowledge in key fields and vital soft skills.
For decades, the Kingdom has consistently contributed to training young people from African countries, making education and experience-sharing central to the cooperation programs developed with partner nations. “Thus, over 40,000 students from 98 countries have benefited from this solidarity-driven cooperation, promoted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” Ambassador Methqal noted. In this context, he emphasized that this year, the AMCI is hosting more than 18,000 international students pursuing higher education in Morocco, with 16,000 of them being African students from 49 countries.
In recent years, Morocco's agency has supported over 3,500 students and graduates through academic cooperation, offering skill-building, employability, and entrepreneurship programs. These initiatives, like the one launched in Dakhla, are part of Morocco's broader commitment to reinforcing South-South cooperation under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI. Mr. Methqal pointed out that Morocco’s efforts focus on the critical tripod of education, training, and employment, which plays a central role in fostering sustainable development across the African continent.
By providing quality training focused on entrepreneurship, Morocco is empowering foreign students and graduates with the tools necessary to become agents of development and creators of value, the Moroccan official remarked. “We are convinced that developing entrepreneurial skills is a key element in preparing young generations for the economic challenges of tomorrow.” He further explained that by enabling these students to acquire solid knowledge, practical skills, and a strategic vision, Morocco is offering them the opportunity to build innovative projects and make a positive impact on their communities.
The success of the first edition of the program, launched in 2022 in the city of Laâyoune, underscored the importance of entrepreneurship as a lever for sustainable development and socio-economic integration. Nearly 800 students and graduates from over 40 countries participated in the first edition, with more than 43% of them being women.
African youth, with their energy, creativity, and determination, represent an invaluable asset and must play a leading role in Africa's transformation towards a sustainable future, as Mr. Methqal affirmed. “African youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are already innovators and entrepreneurs today, ready to tackle the continent's challenges,” he concluded.
This large-scale project, launched by the Human Capital Group and the Dar Al Moukawil Network of Attijariwafa Bank in partnership with the AMCI, aims to contribute to the development of entrepreneurship as a catalyst for development, inclusion, and integration for the continent's youth.
