The strategic defense partnership between Morocco and the United States was further solidified with a ceremony at the 1st Air Base of the Royal Air Force in Salé, celebrating the arrival of six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. This acquisition reflects Morocco's commitment to modernizing its armed forces under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Moroccan officials, including Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for National Defense Administration, and Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR. The U.S. delegation was led by General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (US AFRICOM), highlighting the strength of the defense cooperation between both nations.

Lieutenant General Berrid remarked that this acquisition is “another building block added to the foundation of our strong and deeply rooted relations,” and emphasized that it aligns with His Majesty the King’s goal “to equip our armed forces with advanced capabilities that have proven their effectiveness in the field.”

General Langley also praised the significance of the acquisition, stating, “By purchasing these Apache helicopters, Morocco has made a significant step in investing in their security and in regional security. This investment now puts them in a new level of warfighting capability.” He further added, “These aircraft give the Royal Moroccan Air Force a lethal tool that will enable them to further our mutual security goals in the region.

He further highlighted Morocco's strategic role, stating, “Morocco is a critical partner for us and a major non-NATO ally. Their leadership and dedication to security and stability in the region shows how valuable this partnership is to both the people of Morocco and the U.S.”

U.S. Africa Command issued a statement on this event emphasizing that “the sale marks a significant step in improving the capabilities of the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) as well as supporting the foreign policy and national security of the United States.”
