Marinid Dynasty (1244-1465 CE)
The Marinids, originating from the Berber Zenata tribe, established their capital in Fes, presiding over a flourishing cultural and intellectual renaissance.
Renowned for their patronage of the arts and sciences, the Marinids fostered a vibrant intellectual milieu, epitomized by the establishment of the Marinid Madrasa in Fes.
Architecturally, the Marinids left an indelible legacy through the embellishment of Fes with ornate mosques, madrasas, and fortifications, including the iconic Bab Bou Jeloud gate.
