A Free Trade Agreement FTA was signed between the United States and Morocco on June 15, 2004, the only US FTA with an African nation, marking a significant milestone in bilateral economic relations. With the Agreement entering into force on January 1st, 2006, it has played a pivotal role in facilitating economic growth. The comprehensive nature of the FTA has led to a substantial increase in commercial opportunities for U.S. exports to Morocco by lifting trade barriers. 
Since its implementation, the U.S. trade surplus with Morocco has surged to $5 billion in 2023, demonstrating a remarkable increase from $79 million in 2005. This surge in trade has positioned Morocco as the 72nd largest export market for U.S. goods. Moreover, subsequent meetings of the Joint Committee established by the FTA have further bolstered bilateral cooperation, leading to agreements on initiatives such as Trade Facilitation, International Investment Principles, and Information and Communication Technology Services.
