2020: The United States recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces
The joint declaration between the Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America, and the State of Israel, issued on December 22, 2020, marked a historic milestone in diplomatic relations, between Morocco and the United States. Rooted in the recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over its southern provinces “Western Sahara”, the declaration underscores the commitment to a realistic political solution based on compromise to this artificial regional dispute and reflects a shift towards peace and cooperation. This declaration is another historic moment in the longstanding strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States.
