Religious Diplomacy: Embassy of Morocco Hosts a Briefing for University of Redlands’ Students
Ambassador Amrani briefed the students on Morocco's longstanding tradition of religious diplomacy and the importance of the Kingdom’s heritage in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East since the early 8th century. He underscored the contributions of Moroccan scholars, architects, and artisans to Andalusian society, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and culture, which played a significant role in shaping the European Renaissance. Moreover, he highlighted Morocco's efforts in promoting moderate Islam and countering Jihadism and extremist narratives.
Expressing admiration for the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Dr. Arafat emphasized the important role played by the Moroccan monarchy in promoting peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue, setting a significant example for the world amidst the current wave of polarization. He stressed the importance of global cooperation, through cultural exchange, to promote the values of peace and moderation.
Ambassador Amrani concluded by inviting the students to revisit the Embassy after their trip to Morocco, to encourage further discussions and deepen their understanding of the subject matter.
Participants will embark on an immersive journey through cities like Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Fez, Rabat, and Casablanca, exploring the historical bonds between Southern Spain and Morocco.
