USAID and Morocco Forge New Avenues of Cooperation: Ambassador Amrani Meets with Administrator Samantha Power

Ambassador Amrani and Administrator Power discussed a new roadmap aimed at accelerating the longstanding partnership between USAID and Morocco, spanning 67 years. Amrani emphasized the pivotal role of USAID programs in knowledge transfer, focusing on education, inclusive development, and women's empowerment. He contextualized these efforts within Morocco’s governmental policies to effectively implement development strategies across various sectors, guided by a vision championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, placing human development at the forefront of national considerations.
Regionally, the diplomat highlighted Morocco’s commitment through projects like His Majesty the King's Atlantic Initiative, promoting shared prosperity and enhancing security through cooperation and solidarity.
Administrator Power reiterated USAID's commitment to advancing these efforts, emphasizing the agency's focus on climate issues in Morocco and recognizing Morocco's global leadership in this area. She pledged close collaboration with Morocco on sustainable development strategies in renewable energy, water management, and agriculture.
Looking ahead, Ms. Power expressed optimism about future collaboration prospects between USAID and Morocco, emphasizing joint efforts to enhance community resilience, particularly in agriculture, and promote sustainable development. She also emphasized the potential of this collaboration to serve as a model for other nations, showcasing the transformative impact of international partnerships in fostering progress and prosperity.
The partnership between USAID and Morocco is expected to strengthen further in areas such as human capital development, climate change mitigation, women's empowerment, and sustainable agriculture, underscoring Morocco's crucial role as a regional partner for USAID, including in humanitarian aid to Gaza and food security across Africa.
