Strengthening Morocco-US Partnership: Congressional Delegation Visits Morocco

The discussions, attended by Moroccan ministers overseeing the Energy and Investment sectors, underscored the commitment of both nations to deepen their bilateral ties and the economic exchange between the two countries experiencing unprecedented growth, surging from 43.4 billion dirhams in 2021 to 68.9 billion dirhams in 2023. The officials of both countries also explored various avenues of bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the increase in economic activity and Morocco’s strategic role as a gateway for American investments in Africa.
Moreover, the conversations weighed on the United States' endorsement of Morocco’s territorial integrity and its recognition of the Kingdom's sovereignty over the Sahara. This support for the Kingdom's autonomy plan signifies a deepening of bilateral relations and shared strategic interests, further exemplified by the close coordination on regional and international affairs.
The U.S. Representatives commended His Majesty King Mohammed VI's efforts in promoting regional peace and stability. They underlined the pivotal roles of the free trade agreement and security cooperation, with a focus on the “African Lion” military exercise, for the security collaboration aimed at combating cross-border crime and terrorism.
The series of high-profile meetings also included engagements with Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King; Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates; Mr. Rachid Talbi Alami, President of the House of Representatives; and officials at the Ministry of Interior.
