CNDH President Meets with U.S. Officials to Discuss Human Rights

These meetings provided a platform for diverse American organizations, institutions, and committees interested in Morocco's approaches to human rights. Bouayach, during her discussions with U.S. officials, emphasized women's rights. She also highlighted Morocco's progress and leadership in the region, underlining its distinctive approach to addressing human rights issues and freedoms. She particularly mentioned the council's efforts in election observation, emphasizing its broad network of observers, which includes international organizations.
Morocco's commitment to human rights has been evident in its proactive measures to prevent violations, protect victims, promote freedoms, and foster a culture of human rights. Morocco has made significant steps in this regard since adopting a new constitution in 2011, which recognizes universally acknowledged human rights.
Prior to her meeting in Washington, Bouayach chaired sessions at the United Nations headquarters in New York, focusing on strategic partnerships and Morocco's dedication to addressing emerging rights issues.
Over recent years, CNDH has prioritized initiatives to promote gender equality, freedom of expression, and socio-economic rights. Morocco's election to the presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2024 underscores its leadership in advancing human rights. This third term reaffirms Morocco's steadfast commitment to promoting human rights on the international stage.
