Morocco participates in the OAS Hispanidad Day Commemoration
Serving as Permanent Observer to the OAS, Ambassador Amrani delivered a message on this occasion, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties between Morocco and Spain, founded on shared values and a historical relationship that spans over eight centuries. In this context, he reflected on the historical convergence of Arabic and Spanish, emphasizing how language and culture foster mutual understanding among nations. He asserted that these elements not only deepen friendships but also enrich a broader identity that celebrates diversity.
The diplomat also emphasized that Morocco's diverse identity is one of its greatest assets, a sentiment echoed in the Moroccan Constitution, which recognizes not only Arab-Muslim and Amazigh identities but also Jewish, African, and Mediterranean dimensions. “We are grateful for this shared history,” he remarked, “as it has shaped two identities that are open to the world.”
Amid pressing global challenges—such as climate change, armed conflict, and political instability—Ambassador Amrani advocated for a collective approach based on dialogue and mutual respect, calling on a united effort to address these global issues.
The Ambassador also cited the successful cooperation between Morocco and Spain as a model of trust and mutual respect, indicating that both countries continually strive to advance their collaboration toward ambitious and promising new horizons.
Furthermore, he underscored the significant role Latin American countries play in Morocco’s foreign policy vision. With over 15 embassies across the continent, he noted that Morocco has strengthened its relations with numerous nations in recent years.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Amrani stressed the need to build bridges between the Americas and Africa, in the framework of South-South cooperation and in order to build a space of peace and shared prosperity in the Atlantic.
